Where Bias Tyres Still Shine

Before #radialtyres became mainstream,#biastyres were the workhorses of the road and even today, they still hold their ground in some demanding conditions.

Bias construction means the nylon cords overlap diagonally, typically at 30–40° angles, creating a crisscross structure that strengthens both the tread and sidewalls. This makes bias tyres tough, durable, and well-suited for agricultural, construction, and off-road applications where loads are heavy and speeds are low.

That design brings several advantages:

1. Strong sidewalls – The overlapping layers reinforce the tyre, making it more resistant to cuts, punctures, and sidewall damage.

2. Better for overloading at low speeds – Bias tyres can carry heavy loads and handle rough terrain without losing shape.

3. Lower cost – Their simpler construction makes them more affordable, which is ideal for markets where value and durability matter most.

However, bias tyres do have their trade-offs. The multiple layers generate more heat at high speeds, which limits their performance on highways. They also wear faster, create more rolling resistance, and don’t offer the same comfort or fuel efficiency as radial tyres.

Still, for short-distance, #offroad, or #heavyduty work, bias tyres remain a reliable choice proof that sometimes, the traditional designs still have their place.

What do you think where do you see bias tyres performing best today?
