HYUNDAI MOTOR TO SUPPLY 1100 HYDROGEN FUEL-CELL SYSTEMS TO GERMAN AUTOMAKER

In a three-year agreement, South Korean car giant Hyundai Motor Group will provide more than 1,000 hydrogen fuel-cell systems to a German manufacturer of environmentally friendly vehicles.

According to the agreement, Hyundai Motor Group will provide 1,100 hydrogen fuel-cell systems for environmentally friendly trash and transport trucks to be made by Enginius, a division of German automaker Faun Group, the firm said in a statement.

According to Faun Group, the second half of 2023 will see the installation of Hyundai’s 90-kilowatt hydrogen fuel-cell systems in its Bluepower garbage and Citypower cargo vehicles.

Hyundai unveiled a brand for its fuel cell technology in January 2021. Its name is HTWO, which is an acronym for the hydrogen molecule H2.

The company started constructing the HTWO Gwangzhou hydrogen fuel-cell systems plant in March of last year with the intention of starting production of 6,500 units annually in 2023. The Korean automobile conglomerate will be the sole owner of the HTWO Gwangzhou facility.

Hyundai anticipates that as China, the largest auto market in the world works to supply 1 million hydrogen-powered vehicles by 2035, demand for hydrogen fuel-cell systems will continue to rise.

To maintain its leadership position in the worldwide hydrogen vehicle markets, Hyundai plans to create 500,000 hydrogen cars and 700,000 hydrogen fuel-cell systems by 2030.

Hyundai now runs a domestic hydrogen fuel-cell system manufacturing facility. Additionally, it intends to construct facilities in the US and Europe.

Hexagon Agility receives order from REV LNG for Mobile Pipeline® modules as demand to deliver Renewable Natural Gas continues to grow

Hexagon Agility, a business of Hexagon Composites, has received a new order for TITAN® 53 Mobile Pipeline® modules from REV LNG, a leading full-service mobile energy supply and project development company. The modules will be used to transport and deliver renewable natural gas (RNG) from multiple sites within the US.

This order represents an estimated value of USD 16.2 million (approx. NOK 158 million).

“To meet aggressive greenhouse gas reduction targets, our customers continue to expand their energy portfolios through the use of RNG as the solution to fight climate change,” said David Kailbourne, President of REV LNG. “We continue to invest in Hexagon Agility’s high-capacity TITAN 53 modules because their proven reliability has allowed us to rapidly expand our RNG portfolio to support customer demand.”

“RNG is the only carbon negative energy source and is key to reducing harmful methane emissions,” said Seung Baik, President of Hexagon Agility. “We applaud REV LNG for its ongoing expansion into the market and look forward to continuing to support their efforts.”

Over 6 Football Pitches! That's the area of the V236-15.0MW rotor

The Wold Cup in Qatar is well under way but next time you watch, imagine 6 pitches next to eachother, and that would still be smaller than the swept path of the Wolrd's largest wind turbine rotor. It blows my mind and makes me proud to be part of #powerthesoluion at Vestas.

If you want to get a better appreciation for the size, please watch this video: https://lnkd.in/eSg9tKp2

VinFast ships first EVs to the U.S.

Shipping the first batch caps a five-year effort to develop its production hub. VinFast expects to ship a second batch of cars to the U.S., its first export market, around January.

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast said on Friday it had shipped its first batch of 999 cars to the United States, capping a five-year bid to develop an auto production hub in the Southeast Asian country for North American and European markets.

The first cars are expected to be handed over to customers by the end of December, the company said.

VinFast CEO Le Thi Thu Thuy said some of the VF 8 electric crossovers being shipped Friday would be sent to U.S. car subscription service Autonomy but the majority would go to retail buyers who have ordered the car.

Thuy said VinFast expected to be able to ship a second batch of cars to the U.S., its first export market, around January.

VinFast is in the process of building an EV plant in North Carolina that is awaiting final regulatory approval from local officials.

Thuy said the company expected to start production at the North Carolina factory in July, 2024 and that electric vehicles built there would qualify for incentives under the terms of the U.S.'s Inflation Reduction Act.

The Inflation Reduction Act, as currently written, requires automakers to have 50 percent of critical minerals used in EV batteries come from North America or U.S. allies by 2024, rising to 80 percent by the end of 2026.

Major automakers have said those targets are unrealistic and it was not immediately clear how VinFast would meet the sourcing requirements.

"The IRA came as a surprise to all of us but it doesn't really impact our strategy in the U.S.," Thuy told Reuters. "As soon as we start manufacturing cars in the U.S., our customers will be eligible [for] the tax incentive."

VinFast said last week that Autonomy had ordered 2,500 EVs, its largest corporate order to date. VinFast has said it has almost 65,000 orders globally in total and expects to sell 750,000 EVs annually by 2026.

Behind schedule:

The North Carolina factory project is running months behind schedule, based on the company's initial targets, and the first shipment of EVs built by VinFast was short of the initial goal to deliver as many as 5,000 cars built at its factory in Haiphong by December.

VinFast officials said the number 999 for the vehicles shipped in the first batch had been chosen because it is considered a lucky number in Vietnam.

"There is no luckier number than 999," Thuy said. The Panamanian-chartered transport ship used to send the first shipment of VinFast EVs had the capacity to carry up to 2,000 vehicles, officials said.
