Total Launches HDPE Circular Compounds Containing Post Consumer Recyclates

Total has recently introduced a new range of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) Circular Compounds with high levels of recycled content to its packaging segment customers. With performance equal to or exceeding that of virgin resins, this new product range valorizes Total’s superior process and catalyst technology and actively contributes to the Circular Economy. Products that Outperform Virgin Materials: Jean Viallefont, Vice President Polymers Europe, stated: “Total is currently extending the applications of the recycled compounds concept by developing additional new grades, since we believe it will be essential to place the European virgin plastics industry in a new yet essential role as ‘circularity enhancer’.” The range consists of HDPE polymer products, in natural color, that cover all the manufacturing needs for blow-molded bottles and heavy-duty containers for household and industrial liquids with a guarantee of 25% or 50% minimum of Post Consumer Recyclate (PCR). Ultra-lightweight solution in the solar-powered aircraft Solar Impulse

Aircraft seats with air-filled cushions are helping to ease the strain. They offer passengers much greater comfort than conventional seats using foam and are also exceptionally light. Lantal, a Swiss supplier serving the aviation industry, has developed a sophisticated system that uses films made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) from Covestro. Air travelers can individually adjust the firmness of their seats or backrests as desired, simply by further inflating the cushions or releasing air from them. The extremely elastic and flexible TPU films ensure that the pressure inside the cushions is optimally distributed. “It’s with innovations like this that we want to make the world a brighter place,” says Wolfgang Stenbeck, Product & Application Manager for specialty films at Covestro. “In addition to developing the material, we also supported Lantal with our processing know-how.” An efficient solution Lightweight seats benefit not only airlines, but also the environment.   Clariant  has presented solutions dedicated to achieving sustainable development in automotive industry. In the presentations delivered in front of leading local and regional technical and mass media, Clariant’s technical experts highlighted Clariant’s edge in the three areas of energy savings, emissions reduction and safety improvements, the current priorities for the automotive and transport industry in China to achieve improved sustainability. Solutions for Light & Safe Automotive: Development of transportation goes along with economic growth — with the surging economy’s high growth rate over the past decade in China, the country has already become the largest new vehicle market in the world since 2010. It is predicted that by 2025 China will replace the U.S. as the largest automobile market globally. Increased traffic volume and the number of road vehicles are inevitably putting pressure and impact on resources, people, climate and the environment. Petroleum consumption

Dream Fox Yu Tong launched high performance carbon fiber in Beijing

Beijing Dream Fox Yu Tong Research & Development Center of Bamboo Fibre (Dream Fox Yu Tong) has recently presented their aerospace grade high performance carbon fiber products with key technology breakthrough. According to report, Dream Fox Yu Tong high performance carbon fiber products has surpassed USA M60 existing technical requirements. This kind of carbon fiber is very pricy. It can be applied in aerospace technology, satellite loading parts, unmanned aerial vehicles and other military fields as well as some fields that require high materials performance. At present, China carbon fiber industry mainly focus on the production, R & D of T 700, T 800, as well as T 1000 high strength carbon fiber industrialization production. To high modulus M series carbon fiber, there are few researches have been conducted in China. According to report, there are only Beijing University of Chemical Technology (M40), Ningbo Institute of Industrial Technology (M55) can provide small product

CME invest 300 million Yuan in second phase offshore wind power blade project

Chongqing Machinery & Electronics Holding (Group) Co., Ltd (CME) recent made announcement that the company will invest 296 million Yuan (US$ 45.41 million) in their offshore wind power blade industrialization development second phase project. It is expected the new factory work house will be expanded in their Jiangsu Rudong location. CME announcement pointed out that the first phase project will be established and put into operation in June, this year (2016). However, the existing production capacity cannot meet existing order and potential order demand. In order to effectively cover China east middle and south regional markets, overseas export market, as well as China domestic inland wind power market demand, CME decided to invest in this project. According to the announcement, this second phase project total investment is 296 million Yuan (US$ 45.41 million), in which 196 million Yuan (US$ 15.34 million) will be invested in the fixed assets, while the remaining 100 million Yuan

First Installation of Anti-microbial sheet in India

I am very much excited for First Installation of Antibacterial Plastic sheet in the Phlebotomy room in the Diagnostic Lab in Chennai in the 2nd week of August. I have started my focus on antimicrobial technology in 2004 and have tried couple of technologies and associated with couple of companies in EU and USA and later stick with an European company and jointly worked out with my strategy and trials in many countries in EU,Middle East ,Africa and south east Asian countries etc. Here i am with pursuing my passion to enhance people's life by introducing such product in the society.

Ford Teams up with Tequila Maker to Produce Agave-based Bioplastic for Vehicles

Ford Motor Company  has teamed up with  Jose Cuervo®  to explore the use of the tequila  producer’s  agave plant byproduct  to develop more sustainable  bioplastics  to employ in  Ford vehicles . Ford  and  Jose Cuervo  are testing the  bioplastic for use in vehicle interior and exterior components  such as wiring harnesses, HVAC units and storage bins. Initial assessments suggest the material holds great promise due to its durability and aesthetic qualities. Success in developing a sustainable composite could reduce vehicle weight and lower energy consumption, while paring the use of petrochemicals and the impact of vehicle production on the environment. “At Ford, we aim to reduce our impact on the environment,”  said Debbie Mielewski, Ford senior technical leader, sustainability research department.  “As a leader in the sustainability space, we are developing new technologies to efficiently employ discarded materials and fibers, while potentially reducing the use of petrochemic
