Our updated Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of releaf® by avantium, Avantium’s plant-based polymer #PEF , shows that this is already possible. The recent study indicates that #releaf® can reduce #CO2emissions by up to 88% in 500 mL #beveragebottle applications compared with conventional #PET under representative European conditions. At resin level, reductions can reach up to 71%. These results are based on industrial data representative of future commercial production, have been independently peer-reviewed, and follow internationally recognized ISO standards. The results show that using renewable, plant-based carbon for plastics instead of fossil feedstock can lower emissions while still delivering the performance needed for packaging and working within existing recycling systems. Introducing the world's first bio-pipette #ElmplasticGmbH , a German manufacturer of dosing aids and primary pharmaceutical packaging, has launched the first commercially available pipette made from bioplastic. The Dudeldorf-based company said it worked with materials maker #BiovoxGmbH and the German subsidiary of international plastics distributor #UltrapolymersGroup . The product, dubbed #BioPipette , uses Biovox's MedEco bioplastic. These polymers consist either entirely of #polylacticacid (PLA) or 95 percent #biobasedpolyethylene (PE). Clariant, a sustainability-focused specialty chemical company, today announced that its catalysts had enabled significantly higher emission reductions in 2025 compared to the previous year. Avoided greenhouse gas emissions amounted to 45 million tons of CO2e, 5 million tons higher than in 2024. The emission reductions[1] were made possible by the company's innovative technologies, such as reforming catalysts for producing direct reduced iron (DRI) and nitrous oxide abatement catalysts for nitric acid plants, as well as syngas catalysts for producing green methanol either through electrolytic hydrogen from renewable electricity or from bio-feedstocks . Additionally, Clariant's catalysts for refinery off-gas purification contributed to these avoided #emissions, helping refineries and crude-to-chemical complexes reduce their environmental footprint.
