Our updated Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of releaf® by avantium, Avantium’s plant-based polymer #PEF, shows that this is already possible. The recent study indicates that #releaf® can reduce #CO2emissions by up to 88% in 500 mL #beveragebottle applications compared with conventional #PET under representative European conditions. At resin level, reductions can reach up to 71%. These results are based on industrial data representative of future commercial production, have been independently peer-reviewed, and follow internationally recognized ISO standards.

The results show that using renewable, plant-based carbon for plastics instead of fossil feedstock can lower emissions while still delivering the performance needed for packaging and working within existing recycling systems.
