Ineos Styrolution provides material to the packaging industry, as well as to automotive, healthcare and electronics customers. It’s a subsidiary under broader chemicals company Ineos Group.  Ineos Styrolution says it remains bullish on opportunities in PS, though plastics in this realm have faced external pressures. Recycling challenges have pushed some states, such as California, to restrict expanded polystyrene foam containers. Foodservice packaging manufacturer Genpak planned to close a Utah manufacturing facility this year that made polystyrene containers, citing certain bans in neighboring states. Illinois lawmakers have advanced similar legislation. PS stakeholders are trying to push back. The #Polystyrene Recycling Alliance recently called on the U.S. Plastics Pact to remove expanded polystyrene transport packaging and rigid polystyrene packaging from its Problematic and Unnecessary Materials list. The Channahon site has been operational since 1960, Ineos Styrolution...

New for manufacturers of thin-wall electrical components: Zenite® LCP 5245L, a high-flow, low warp solution to enable reliable high-volume production of these sensitive components.   Molders of complex CPU sockets for AI server platforms already are benefitting from the attributes of this new material. Are you manufacturing: • Applications with high-pin density designs? • Large components with tight warpage requirements? • Applications sensitive to surface defects or post-processing damage? • High-volume thin-walled parts (and maybe having challenges with process simplification and robustness)? Then you really should make time to learn about Zenite® LCP 5245L.  And it is easy to learn more with the help of the Chemille digital assistant. The TDS and processing datasheet are available immediately, and registering at Chemille will open access to other documents such as CAE, regulatory and other documents. source : Celanese It’s all available right here: https://lnkd.in/eS4Z...

Unlike many polymers, PVC does not melt cleanly. Its flow behaviour depends on fusion, lubricant interactions, stabilizer efficiency and how the polymer breaks down under shear and temperature. This makes process control both critical and difficult. Two compounds with identical formulations can behave very differently in the extruder simply because of particle size distribution, porosity or plasticizer absorption rate. Small changes in shear stress or temperature profile can shift the melt from too elastic to too fragile, affecting die swell, surface finish and dimensional accuracy. The challenge grows when recyclate, fillers or impact modifiers are added, each altering the melt’s elasticity and flow resistance in its own way. Consistent rheolo...

#Plasticpipe systems are essential for delivering safe, high-quality drinking water, reliably and at scale. The materials used in these systems need to combine strong mechanical performance with high purity and be efficient to process. Increasingly, they are also expected to be more sustainable. At Borouge International, we’re supporting this transition by replacing 10% of the fossil-based feedstock in our established #polypropylene (PP) grade BA160E-8229-01 with a bio-based alternative and launching the product as part of the Bornewables™ portfolio. Established in 2026, Borouge International brings together #Borouge , #Borealis and #NOVAChemicals Corporation into a global polyolefins platform with complementary regional strengths, advanced technology capabilities and the scale to serve customers across key growth markets. A high-performance, easy-to-process drinking water grade: Used in drinking water and irrigation applications, BA160E-8229-01 is a fully formulated, drinking wate...

Covestro has launched Bio4PURConti (Bio-Based Continuous Production for Sustainable Polyurethane Industry), acting as project coordinator of the pioneering EU-funded initiative. The project aims to develop the world's first continuous production process for bio-based aniline. Aniline is a key raw material for the plastics and chemical industry, notably for #MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate), a core building block for #polyurethanes. Fossil-based aniline production generates approximately 20 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually worldwide. To specifically reduce the carbon footprint of aniline production, Covestro uses a tailored #microorganism in its bio-based process that converts industrial sugars from #plantbasedbiomass into an intermediate product through #fermentation . In a second step, chemical catalysis converts this intermediate into #aniline with 100% plant-based carbon. Continuous Fermentation Process: A Technological Breakthrough: #Bio4PURConti aims to take t...

In injection molding, the runner system controls how molten plastic travels from the machine nozzle into the cavity. But not all runner systems work the same. The two most common approaches are: 🟠 Hot Runner 🔵 Cold Runner And choosing the right one can significantly affect: 📏 Part quality ⏱️ Cycle time 💸 Material waste ⚙️ Tooling complexity 🔍 Cold Runner System In a cold runner mold, the runner solidifies together with the part and is ejected every cycle. ✅ Simpler mold design ✅ Lower tooling investment ✅ Easier maintenance But also: ❌ More material waste ❌ Longer cycle time ❌ Additional regrind handling Cold runners are commonly used for: 📦 Lower-volume production 🧩 Simple geometries 🛠️ Cost-sensitive tooling projects 🔥 Hot Runner System In a hot runner mold, the runner stays molten inside a heated ma...
