Elix Polymers is expanding its portfolio for #automotive applications with the introduction of “#ElixPC/ABS GR 5125”, a new #PC/ABS grade developed for visible interior components. The material is designed to deliver a very low-gloss surface while retaining the mechanical and thermal performance required for demanding automotive interior applications.
The grade is targeted at matte and low-reflection surfaces used in instrument panels, center consoles, decorative trim, door panels and air vents. According to #ElixPolymers, the material reduces surface gloss without significantly affecting impact strength, heat resistance, dimensional stability or processability. Low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and low odor levels are additional features, addressing increasingly stringent requirements for vehicle interior air quality.
“Elix PC/ABS GR 5125” is formulated for injection molding. Available product data describe the material as a commercially available PC/ABS blend combining high impact strength, heat resistance and low emissions. Elix Polymers is positioning the grade for applications that require a balance of matte appearance, mechanical durability and thermal stability.
The company is also introducing a version within its “E-Loop” portfolio. Announced for Fakuma 2026, “Elix E-Loop PC/ABS GR 5125 MR LNS100” contains mechanically recycled post-consumer material. In addition to its low-gloss appearance, the recycled-content grade is said to offer high thermal stability, low emissions of volatile substances and high impact strength, including at temperatures as low as -40°C.
The development reflects the growing use of matte and low-reflection surfaces in automotive interiors, alongside rising requirements for low emissions, reduced odor, long-term durability and increased recycled content. The new PC/ABS grades are aimed at automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers producing visible interior components.
The market launch is scheduled for Fakuma 2026.
