Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation hereby announces that it has added the Xlink TechTM-HT (#375) and Xlink TechTM-HS (#372) series to its  Xlink TechTM-carbon fiber prepreg portfolio. The Company has commenced sample work for these new products.

Because it is lightweight yet offers high strength and stiffness, carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is used in a broad spectrum of applications, from sports and leisure to mobility and industry.

In terms of physical properties, damage to CFRP often originates not in the carbon fiber itself, but in the resin that supports the carbon fibers or at the interface between the resin and the fibers. Therefore, the resin used for CFRP is required to have not only high strength and heat resistance, but also excellent impact resistance. In particular, CFRP made with high-modulus carbon fiber is susceptible to impact damage despite its high stiffness, and achieving both stiffness and durability has long been a challenge.

Accordingly, the Company leveraged its proprietary resin design technology to maximize the performance of high-modulus carbon fiber and successfully developed the Xlink TechTM-HT (#375) and Xlink TechTM-HS (#372) series, which significantly improve the impact resistance and damage tolerance of CFRP made with high-modulus carbon fiber.

The combination of high stiffness and excellent durability is expected to provide greater design flexibility for CFRP components and contribute to their enhanced performance across diverse sectors, from sports and leisure to mobility and industry.

Going forward, the Company will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by providing high-value-added CFRP.
