For the sixth year in a row, SABIC has demonstrated its industry-leading position in research and innovation by being recognized with a R&D 100 Award, this year for its breakthrough #NORYL™ V0 resins, the first-of-its-kind #laserweldable specialty material engineered for the #solarenergy market.

The award in the Materials Science category demonstrates SABIC’s leadership in innovation and its continuous efforts to advance the global adoption of solar energy through materials that help improve manufacturing efficiency and long-term component performance.

In remarks on winning the award, Dr. Faisal M. Alfaqeer, SABIC CEO and Executive Board Member, said, “We are honored to receive this prestigious global recognition, which reflects our commitment to solving complex industry challenges through technology expertise and a relentless focus on creating value for our customers. NORYL V0150TW (absorptive) and V0150IR2 (transmissive) resins uniquely combines #flameretardancy, improved weatherability, and superior sealing performance, enabling faster and cleaner manufacturing of #photovoltaic microinverters while significantly enhancing their reliability and outdoor stability. It helps lower energy consumption, reduce material waste and manufacturing costs – all contributing to accelerating renewable solar adoption, an energy source that brings lasting environmental and societal benefits.


NORYL V0 Resins also received an Edison Award this year in the Materials Science category, highlighting SABIC’s contribution to industrial progress and advancing its vision of becoming the preferred world leader in chemicals.

Lummus Technology announced Vioneo has selected its Novolen®

polypropylene (PP) technology for a new grassroots plant in #Antwerp , Belgium. The plant will be part of Vioneo’s complex that, once complete, will be the world’s first industrial scale fossilfree plastics production complex. The complex, based on green methanol as feedstock, will also be highly electrified using renewableelectricity and use renewable hydrogen as key components to its operations. The first-of-its-kind plant will have a capacity of 200 kta and will use 100pc segregated green #propylene and #ethylene as feedstock to produce a wide range of #PP grades. With high-purity feedstock and proven technology, PP will serve as a direct drop-in replacement for fossil-based alternatives.
