Extrusion lamination is a process in which a molten thermoplastic resin is extruded through a flat die and used as an adhesive layer to bond two or more substrates together. Instead of using solvent-based or water-based adhesives, the molten polymer itself acts as the bonding medium. The extruded resin is applied between substrates and immediately pressed together through a chill roll and pressure nip, forming a strong laminated structure.


In practice, this means laminating barrier films , Aluminum Foil, Met-BOPP, Met-BOPET to printed bi-oriented films like BOPP, BOPET, and BOPA, then sealing with PE/PP webs.

The process runs at 320–330°C using a high-flow LDPE resin (MFI 6–8), typically blended at 6–25% with specialty adhesion polymers (acrylate or POE based) to guarantee adequate bonding.
