Not all high-temperature fibers clear this bar.
Refractory ceramic fibers (RCF) do not meet this standard. Some polycrystalline wools (PCW) do not either. AES fibers can qualify but cannot reach such high temperatures (1600°C, 2912°F), limiting their high temperature applications.
VSG's bulk and alumina fiber needled blankets meet the classification threshold without giving up thermal performance.
For engineers and EHS teams specifying insulation materials in high-temperature environments, this has practical consequences. Fewer handling restrictions. Cleaner compliance documentation. No trade-off on performance.
