The company's patent-pending Molecular Homogenizer (MH) screw has been repositioned to the metering section, expanding its utility from starve-feed to flood-feed applications — including film, sheet, and other common extrusion formats.


The MH mixes using continuous elongation rather than shear and compression. According to Randcastle CEO Keith Luker, this "deterministic" approach ensures all material is elongated, generating more than 100 trillion mixing events per cycle.


Test data supports notable outcomes:


- 22.4% increase in elongation at yield and 17.9% boost in impact strength in PETG trials conducted by Pennsylvania College of Technology

- No measurable molecular weight loss in PLA, compared to a 5% reduction on a control screw

- Suppression of oxidative discoloration in LLDPE on second-pass processing

- No pre-drying required for PC and PEEK


Luker reports active discussions with several single-screw extruder OEMs evaluating the technology.
