Gurit is proud to announce that their Corecell S structural foam core is the first non-syntactic foam to obtain DNV Certification for Underwater Technology

The certification covers the following standards:

DNV Class Programme DNV-CP-0084 – Type Approval – Sandwich Core Materials

DNV Rules for Classification – Underwater Technology, Pt. 2, Sec. 5: Materials and Welding for UWT Systems

Achieving DNV certification highlights the material’s exceptional performance, reliability and suitability for demanding subsea and offshore environments.

#CorecellS is a high-performance foam, delivering exceptional hydrostatic crush strength, minimal buoyancy loss and long-term reliability at depth. With an ultra-fine cell structure, high water resistance, and outstanding chemical and thermal stability, it can withstand the harshest marine environments making it the ideal choice for components such as subsea buoyancy or storage units, diving bells, ROVs and impact protection structures.

Corecell S is compatible with epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resin systems, offering flexibility across a wide range of manufacturing processes. It supports infusion, hand lamination, and thermoforming, enabling efficient integration into existing production workflows.

Corecell S has a range of standard finishing options including plain, pinhole and vacuum-infusion cut, is available in sheet form or as pre-cut kits, and can be ordered in a variety of different densities to meet specific performance and design requirements.

Corecell S complements Corecell M and Corecell I, collectively covering applications from marine structures to industrial and subsea systems. This comprehensive range ensures that customers can select the optimal core material for their specific performance, processing and environmental demands.

Achieving DNV certification for Corecell S reinforces Gurit commitment to innovation and quality in the subsea market and provides customers with increased confidence in its material properties. It also further strengthens Gurit established position in the market after securing a multi-year contract supplying Corecell #structuralfoam core to the subsea industry.
