Not all adhesives reach full strength immediately.
Many pressure-sensitive adhesives continue to build adhesion after application.
This happens through a process often called dwell. Over time, the adhesive slowly flows into the microstructure of the surface, increasing the contact area and strengthening the bond.
Temperature, pressure, and surface compatibility influence how quickly this happens.
This is why a label that feels easy to remove initially may become much harder to remove a day later.
Adhesion is not always a single moment.
Sometimes it is a process that unfolds over hours or days.
Understanding dwell behavior is essential when evaluating real-world performance.
