#AsterChemicals & Energy has reached a final investment decision to proceed with an $80-million project to double the #ethylene (C2) export capacity of its cracker complex on Bukom Island in #Singapore, the producer said on Tuesday.
Aster, a joint venture between Indonesia’s Chandra Asri and global commodities trader Glencore, operates a 1.1 million tonne/year ethylene cracker. The company did not disclose its current C2 export capacity.
Scheduled for completion in 2027, the project will “deepen integration between Bukom and the #ChandraAsri cracker facility in Cilegon [in Indonesia], strengthening the end-to-end C2 derivatives value chain across both locations”, the company said in a statement.
Aster awarded engineering and construction (EPC) contracts to multiple partners, including Toyo Engineering Corp and Singapore’s UTOC Engineering for the project.
The company first announced the project in November 2025.
The scope of work encompasses detailed EPC for a parallel ethylene chiller system alongside the expansion of outbound ethylene export logistics at the Bukom facility.
Chandra Asri Group’s regional asset base includes 2.5 million/tonnes of downstream chemical assets on Jurong Island and a 900,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker in Cilegon, Indonesia.
