Philips Walita adopts sustainable Eastman Tritan™ Renew for premium blender

Philips Walita is advancing its sustainability efforts by adopting #Eastman Tritan™ Renew copolyester into the jar design of its premium 5000 Series RI2242/90 blender.

The blender jars were previously designed with legacy #Tritan. But the adoption of Tritan Renew adds a significant sustainability benefit for #PhilipsWalita, certified recycled content,* without compromising the jar’s performance, clarity, durability or safety.


“Switching the RI2242/90 jar to Tritan Renew allows us to deliver the same BPA-free product quality and user experience our customers trust while taking a meaningful step forward in our sustainability journey,” said Thais Nascimento, marketing lead for the Philips Walita Latin America region. “This change reflects our broader commitments to circular materials, reduced carbon emissions and more responsible product design for Brazilian consumers.


Tritan Renew’s #recycledcontent is made possible through Eastman’s molecular recycling technology, which breaks down hard-to-recycle plastics into their original chemical building blocks. These are then used to create new, high-performance materials with the same strength and clarity as virgin plastic but with a lower environmental impact. Unlike traditional mechanical recycling, this process allows waste to be recycled repeatedly without compromising quality.


By transitioning to Tritan Renew, Philips Walita aims to raise consumer awareness of sustainable choices and encourage shoppers to choose products made with recycled content. The company expects the transition to Tritan Renew will help meet consumer expectations and support existing sustainability initiatives in the region, including recycled packaging and the removal of PVC/BPA in product lines.


When evaluating the material change, the Philips Walita team assessed many factors, including:

Performance — Tritan Renew sustains the high clarity, impact resistance and thermal stability that blender jars require to withstand frequent washing, thermal cycling and regular food contact.


Sustainability — By using Tritan Renew containing recycled content, Philips Walita reduces reliance on virgin feedstocks. This change advances the company's circular materials road map and emissions-reduction ambitions.

Seamless manufacturing transition — Tritan Renew delivers material performance equivalent to Tritan thanks to Eastman’s molecular recycling technology. This ensures identical processing behavior, eliminating the need for tooling or assembly changes while providing meaningful environmental benefits.

The RI2242/90 blender was introduced in 2021 and is sold throughout Latin America, including Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay. This blender features a transparent, impact- and stain-resistant jar paired with high-performance stainless-steel blades. The compact, robust base is offered with stainless steel, gray or black finishes. Users of this Philips Walita blender model enjoy its lightweight practicality, and the jar’s glasslike aesthetics remain, even after frequent washing.


Philips Walita and Eastman have collaborated for years on food contact components built from Tritan. The decision to adopt Tritan Renew represents a natural evolution of that relationship. Philips Walita leverages Eastman’s technical expertise and molecular recycling capabilities to introduce recycled content into a trusted, consumer-facing product.
