Americhem is expanding its aircraft interior materials portfolio with ColorFast® SFT5500, a PFAS-free high-performance thermoplastic engineered to meet FAA 14 CFR 25.853, Appendix F, Part IV, 55/55 OSU heat release requirements while delivering low smoke and low toxicity characteristics for aircraft interior applications.

PFAS-free thermoplastic systems capable of achieving 55/55 OSU performance while maintaining low smoke and low toxicity characteristics remain limited in the #aerospace market. ColorFast® SFT5500 addresses this need with demonstrated 55/55 OSU heat release performance, low smoke emission characteristics, and low flaming-mode toxicity performance in a high-performance #thermoplastic platform designed specifically for #injectionmolded interior components.

Aircraft interior thermoplastics must meet stringent fire standards while maintaining durability, thermal stability, and process consistency. As legacy fluorinated material systems face increasing regulatory scrutiny, manufacturers are reassessing long-term material strategies to reduce compliance exposure without introducing performance trade-offs or qualification risk.

#ColorFast®SFT5500 reflects Americhem’s focused investment in aerospace materials,” said Matthew Miklos, Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Marketing at Americhem. “We engineered this PFAS-free thermoplastic platform to deliver required 55/55 OSU fire performance with low smoke and low toxicity characteristics while supporting manufacturers seeking greater stability across qualification, compliance, and supply planning. It represents a forward-looking approach to aerospace interior material selection.

ColorFast® SFT5500 is engineered for interior thermoplastic systems, including sidewalls, seat structures, monument components, power supply unit #housings, #interiorpanels, and #lavatorysystems. The material fits into existing injection-molding processes, helping manufacturers transition materials without disrupting qualification.

With advanced compounding operations across North America, Europe, and Asia, #Americhem collaborates with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to deliver globally consistent engineered compound solutions for regulated applications. Backed by more than 80 years of polymer formulation expertise, the company continues to invest in material technologies aligned with evolving aerospace requirements.

ColorFast® SFT5500 reinforces Americhem’s role as a long-term partner in aircraft interiors, combining fire performance, low smoke and low toxicity characteristics, regulatory foresight, and global manufacturing support within a stable, qualification-ready thermoplastic system.
