ALBIS will distribute Covestro’s new APEC® XT polycarbonate copolymer range, further expanding its portfolio of plastics designed for demanding environmental conditions. The product line offers exceptional impact resistance even at very low temperatures, combined with improved chemical resistance and optimized tribological properties.
“By adding APEC® XT, we are expanding our portfolio with solutions that deliver reliable performance in critical environments,” says Julian Wegner, Business Manager Technical Polymers at ALBIS. “For our customers, this opens up new opportunities in applications where durability and resistance are essential.
Applications in key industries
Typical applications for APEC® XT can be found in the telecommunications industry as well as in the electrical and electronics industries – for example in components used in #radiotowers, #solarpowermodules, or other outdoor units exposed to very low temperatures and high UV radiation.
The material is also well suited for refrigerated and freezer environments, where conventional engineering polymers often struggle to maintain their impact strength. In addition, the new range offers advantages for applications in the healthcare and mobility sectors.
Christian Wilms, Covestro Global Copolymer Program Manager at #Covestro, adds: “APEC® XT was specifically developed for operating conditions where conventional polycarbonates reach their limits. Through our collaboration with #ALBIS, we can bring these solutions to the markets where robust materials are essential.
APEC® XT is now available through ALBIS across EMEA, with additional markets to follow gradually.
